Blagica, NBC Chicago Street Team
By dumb luck, I learned that Food Network’s Guy Fieri was in Chicago. Some further digging revealed that Guy was visiting a local diner on the west side of Chicago – The Depot American Diner.
My hubby and I had the chance to chat with Guy last week – albeit at 7 in the morning. The DDD King was shooting at The Depot all day and set aside an hour for media/writing folk to come on in, ask questions and get to know a little about Fieri and his show, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
I had no idea as to how much research goes into one restaurant. Those segments you see per show? They each take about 20 hours to film – and those 20 hours get edited into approximately six minutes. Wow.
The Guy you see on television is the same guy we met that morning. The man loves food. Almost more than food, the Guy loves helping restaurants thrive. Most restaurants that are featured on the show have 100% increase in revenue – often changing the lives of the owners.
I don’t know when the show featuring The Depot airs, but you better get out there now – before the rush happens after the segment airs. For a little more background into what makes Guy tick, check out the video below.
A fun fact? Guy’s first Chicago Italian Beef sandwich experience was at – the airport. You can also follow Guy’s next moves by checking out his site.
Love the video! Would you be willing to share it with me for my blog? If so, please send me a note. Thanks! Very enjoyable read.
