International singing sensation, Natasha Bedingfield concluded the ‘Sunday Rocks! Concert Series‘ at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

Six Flags Great America’s concert series hosted a variety of well-known recording artists. Prior to Bedingfield, past performers included Demi Lovato, Sean Kingston, Gavin DeGraw and Mario.

Bedingfield, a native of London, also concluded her American tour on the same day. She was on tour in support of her second North American album, Pocketful Of Sunshine which was released earlier this year.

She commented that she’ll be taking a nice break back home in London and will return to the United States for a new tour this September.

Of the three ‘Sunday Rocks! Concert Series’ I attended, featuring Gavin DeGraw, Mario and Natasha Bedingfield – Bedingfield takes the cake for the best performance. Her vocals were powerful and she related to the audience, telling stories between her songs.

Her hit singles, “Love Like This”, “Unwritten” and “Pocketful Of Sunshine”, were some of the highlights of the show.

Six Flags Great America will host a special concert featuring American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks on Saturday, August 16th.

Mario sang some sweet tunes last Sunday at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee for their ‘Sunday Rocks! Concert Series‘.

During the summer, on specific Sundays, Six Flags features many well-known national touring acts to you for free (with theme park admission or a season pass).

Last weekend, I stepped out of my musical comfort zone to attend a non-metal, non-rock concert. I attended an R&B concert featuring Mario. I always try to expand my horizons and this was a perfect time to do so. I was familiar with Mario’s hit single, “Just A Friend 2002”.

I, along with millions of other people know Mario from his stint on “Dancing with the Stars”. Mario’s dance partner was Karina Smirnoff (most noted for dating Mario Lopez).

Last Sunday was hot and sunny and Mario’s fans were sweating for him big time. I haven’t been to a concert that was so intense with fan adoration in a while. It felt like every person in the theatre knew his lyrics – except for me.

Mario came out to the crowd with his nice jeans, white sunglasses and jacket on. Mario took off his jacket to reveal his white tee. He eventually took off his shirt and sunglasses, right before he brought a lucky fan on-stage to serenade. He made a quick wardrobe change and concluded his show in a nice black business suit.

Young Steff and Colby O’Donis opened up for Mario. O’Donis is signed to Konvict Muzik, a record label owned by singer Akon. Singer Rory, made a special appearance with Colby on the Six Flags stage.

Closing out the ‘Sunday Rocks! Concert Series’ this weekend is London native, Natasha Bedingfield. American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks will be performing a special show at Six Flags Great America on Saturday, July 16th.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee is making their amusement park even more entertaining with its ‘Sunday Rocks! Concert Series’ presented by Dance Dance Revolution and Chase.

During the summer, on specific Sundays, Six Flags Great America is featuring many well-known national touring acts to you for free (with theme park admission or a season pass). Singer & rapper, Sean Kingston made his way to the park on July 6th and Demi Lovato kicked off the series on June 22nd.

Last Sunday, pop/rock musician Gavin DeGraw made his debut at Great America performing in a set made to resemble a volcano in the Operation SpyGirl Amphitheater.

Opening for DeGraw was Marié (Mar-ee-ay) Digby, whose single “Say It Again” hit the airwaves this summer. Digby is most known for her YouTube video, performing an acoustic rendition of Rihanna’s song “Umbrella”.

DeGraw came out to a screaming crowd with his pale yellow Fender Telecaster and moved onto his sparkling baby grand piano. He then returned to the guitar, but this time to a nice beautiful Gibson Les Paul.

DeGraw sang his hits, “Chariot”, “I Don’t Want To Be” and “In Love With A Girl” to several hundred adoring fans. I’m usually one to point out how different singers’ vocals are live vs. their albums, but DeGraw has an amazing voice. His live vocals sound exactly how you hear him on the radio, his albums or perhaps his myspace page.

Future acts slated to appear at Six Flags Great America are R&B artist and “Dancing with the Stars” performer, Mario on July 20th. July 27th British pop sensation Natasha Bedingfield will wow the crowd and closing the series in a special Saturday performance is American Idol winner, Jordin Sparks who will take to the stage on August 16th.

Sunday Rocks! Concert Series is a great deal for anyone who wants to come to the park. They’ll get to take advantage of all the rides, food and fun Six Flags Great America offers. Plus, they’ll get to see a show for free.
