While we’re all about the lazy days of summer, who says you can’t throw a little bit of a cerebral flare into the mix? Apparently, the stellar blowout between Joan Rivers and Patti Duke on the Celebrity Apprentice (you’re a po-ka playa) didn’t discourage everyone from learning the tricks of the trade. Citizen Bar’s Poker School 101 started out as a ladies only event, but due to the high demand, men are now invited to participate in a little healthy competition.
Citizen Bar owner Jimmy D, professional poker player and Millionaire Matchmaker star, along with additional professional poker players will provide students with a comprehensive guide of poker tips and strategies. Starting tonight, Poker 101 will be held every other Tuesday (rain or shine) from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Lessons are free and winners will have their picture displayed on Citizen Bar’s “Wall of Fame.” Students can take advantage of special food and drink specials like half price bottles of wine and $6 salads (think swimsuit season), while soaking up the summer sun on the roof-top deck.
Space is limited, reservations are recommended. Please RSVP to email@example.com

U2 is definitely an “arena rock band” with the ability to instantly sell out any venue they book. Getting tickets, even if you’re willing to pay top dollar, is always a challenge.
Here’s spectacular news: you can see U2 up close & personal for free! U2 is celebrating the release of their new CD No Line on the Horizon next week by coming to Chicago for an awesome live event on Tuesday, March 10. This will most definitely not be a huge arena show. It will be much more intimate and private, with the location being kept top secret. Shirley Manson of Garbage will be the host and U2 will actually be “deejaying”! You cannot purchase these tickets to this once-in-a-lifetime-experience, you must win to get in. And I’m just the gal for that…
I’m giving away a bunch of free U2 tickets next week on “The Mix”. You’ll have three chances to win each day (Mon-Fri): at 10:20am, 11:20am and 1:20pm. Just be sure to be listing to 101.9 WTMX at those times and I’ll tell you what to do to win.

Chicagoans are a lucky bunch. We’ve got some of the best museums in the world right at our doorstep. Unfortunately, they can be pretty pricey. Fortunately, they also offer lots of free days.
The Museum of Science & Industry frequently makes the must-see lists of things to do in Chicago, and from now until the end of the month you can see why for free. The Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium are free next week and a few other days during the month, and the Field Museum has a variety of days. Go on January 14th or 15th and you can visit the entire Museum Campus without paying a dime.
