A successful playwright once said that an order to get people to come to the theater, you need to provide the audience with comedy, music or nudity. Well this is America, damnit, and thanks to The Great American Nudie Spectacular, you can have it all in one show.
Writer/composer/director Greg Silva was inspired more than a decade ago to create a show with a serious theme that could still appeal to a mass audience. He decided to challenge the accepted American censorship values that allow audiences unlimited access to scenes and images of violence on TV and in film, but will slap a film with an “R” rating when nudity makes its way on screen. In short, he seeks to answer why images of nudity are seen as more of a threat to “family values” than images of violence.
