If you saw my post yesterday, you know I ventured to the House of Blues last night to pay homage to the Mighty Queensryche. The show to me was like going to the theater only instead of hearing opera music, you see a heavy metal guitarist next to a thundering bass with an olympic-like athlete playing the drums behind a singer with an tenor operatic voice. Along with the imagery on the video screens, this show had a lot of surprises.
Spoiler #1: Lead singer, Geoff Tate’s, 10 year old daughter, Emily, steps into the spotlight and sings a griping duet with her Rock Star Dad in the song ‘Home Again’ off the new cd ‘American Soldier’.
Spoiler #2: The band has three sets where they play songs from the three cds ‘Rage For Order’ (1986), ‘American Soldier’ (2009), and ‘Empire'(1990).
Spoiler #3: A real American soldier comes out on stage and sings a duet with Geoff. It’s an amazing sequence watching the soldier perform
and the joy he has on his face as he exits stage left.
Spoiler #4: My take on how the lighting was set, the sound being so exceptionally clean, and with these performers sounding as tight as cd studio quality, this tour is being filmed for an upcoming DVD (my speculation only).
The show tonight (Friday 5/8) and tomorrow night (Saturday 5/9) is exceptional art exhibited at the HOB with wildly talented artists at the top of their game. This is maximum entertainment, Ladies and Gentlemen, try to go out of your way to see this one.
