Vander Ark is touring in support of his self-titled solo album. His other albums include Resurrection (2003), Within Reach (2004) and Angel, Put Your Face On (2006).
If you’ve ever seen the Mark Wahlberg film, Rock Star, Vander Ark plays the bassist in his band, Blood Pollution.
Vander Ark’s performance was amazing, despite being a little under the weather. I couldn’t believe my ears when he sang. His vocals and guitar skills were magnificent. I was incredibly excited to see him perform because I’m a fan of The Verve Pipe and now a fan of his solo music, too.
If you missed his Duffy’s show, there are more opportunities to see him play in Chicago. He will be performing four shows at Schubas Tavern, every Monday in January. These shows will be themed each night. During his January 5th show he’ll be performing his entire Resurrection album and will be telling stories about writing and recording that album. The show on January 12th will have the same feel as his first performance; however, this show will focus on his album Angel, Put Your Face On. January 19th will be selections from his most recent, self-titled album. The final night Brian will feature his new band with various songs from his whole catalog of music.
I’m hoping Vander Ark sings his band’s hit single, “The Freshmen” at his final Schubas show. I can’t get enough of that song.
Below is a video of Brian Vander Ark Singing “The Freshmen” (The Verve Pipe – Villains). Poor quality video. Great quality music.
