If you are tired of your conventional cafe that serves coffee or tea, think Bubbles! Being a caffeine addict myself, I can only imagine what many of you caffeine fiends may be thinking, but I have one word for you — YUM!

With a little convincing from a friend, I decided to veer from my daily routine of a Venti Latte and take part in the latest Bubble Tea craze and check out BeBoBa Bubble Tea House. As I walked into this wonderful bubble land — leaving the adult world behind — I was surrounded by art, tea, and a chewy tapioca balls.

Owners Christin Zimmerman and Rebecca Brady wanted to share their obsession with bubble tea, so they opened the very first premier bubble tea shop in the city of Chicago five years ago. BeBoBa Bubble Tea House offers more than 40 flavors of bubble tea, such as your traditional Espresso, and not so traditional Avocado Mango. Besides the chewy little tapioca balls, I thought it was neat that they involved the community by offering local students and artists an opportunity to showcase their work. Although many of the students’ work originate from Lane Tech College Prep H.S, it is open to students in the greater Chicago area, offering them a chance to win prizes consisting of money, tea, and a $100 donation to a department within the student’s school on their behalf.

This month’s featured artist is Alex Agudo, a former Lane Tech Alumni/ Jewler whose collection Homage a le mer , (honor to the sea) involves Pearls, Shells, Coral, Jade and other stones including rough Diamonds. Homage a le mer is one of many collections that will be on display and available for purchase for the duration of the month .

As I walked out with my “hug in a cup” and Jewelery in hand, I was proud to say that I was hooked on Boba. So if you find yourself looking for an alternative than just your typical coffee or tea, be like me ! Try bubble tea!
