I am committed to starting the year off on the right foot! And that means it’s time to begin shopping for my 2009 wardrobe! Even in the country’s current economic state, shopping is an indulgence that any fashion-forward human should be able to enjoy whole-heartedly. So, a shopping trip to Sara Jane at 1343 N. Wells Street should definitely make the New Year to-do list of any respectable fashionista out there.

Sara Jane

Of all of the well-stocked boutiques in Chicago, none have the personality and flare of Sara Jane. And that is in part due to Sara herself, the owner and brain child of this delightful Old Town post. Sara is one of the most unpretentious, down-to-earth and perfectly pulled-together women I know, and her store reflects this disposition.  She carries everything from “it” jeans by brands such as Fidelity denim — Rihanna was spotted rocking this brand — or 1921, a denim house that hand cuts each pair of their jeans, to stylish must-have dresses in a variety of looks like the ever popular maxi or cocktail sheaths with fun and flirty embellishments. If accessories are your thing, she offers up some of the prettiest jewelry designed to punch any outfit up several notches. You will also find great handbags and clutches in some of the most popular colors and fabrics for the season.

Accessories and more!

Accessories and more!

And if this isn’t enough to get you excited about re-stocking your closet at Sara Jane, remember you can top off your great day of shopping with a stroll through the historic neighborhood of Old Town to check out the neighboring restaurants and swanky shops along the ever bustling Wells Street.

AKIRA just opened it’s newest location in Lincoln Park and had a big ol’ party to kick things off! There was a DJ, food, drinks, chocolate, shopping, manicures, makeovers, a fashion show and, of course, a bachelor auction featuring the Chicago Machine Lacrosse Team.

And in the words of the great and wise, Cyndi Lauper,

Girls just wanna have fun!

…and “have fun” we DID!

PS: This video has cute “Chicago Machine Lacrosse Team bare man chest” on the latter end, so…

Hey… I don’t make the news, I just report it.
