Chicago’s Drake Hotel is widely regarded as one of the most luxurious hotels in the world. Its Palm Court is an upscale and relaxing respite from the manic Magnificent Mile right outside its doors. Apparently there’s no limit to their luxury, since the bathroom has made it to the top 10 in the 8th Annual America’s Best Public Restroom Contest.
Reading the descriptions of the Palm Court’s bathroom and their competition is like skimming highlights from a Dream Home show. Nova 535 in St. Petersburg, FL, has “full-length solid birch stall doors and Italian mocha travertine with black granite diamond inserts”. The Fox Theatre in Detroit has fireplaces and hand-carved moldings. Zeffirino Ristorante in Las Vegas’ Venetian boasts a limestone water fountain. And the Drake has private suites complete with in-stall makeup tables.
Now that’s a pisser.
