There’s plenty to do this weekend if you’re a hip-hop fan and want to do some star-watching…In some cases, you can do both! Here’s the rundown:

THURSDAY
Catch two well-known Hollywood actors up close and personal at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema (located at 2828 N. Clark St.) tonight…Clifton Powell (“Menace II Society”, “Friday After Next”) and Wood Harris (recently seen in “Not Easily Broken” and “Next Day Air”) will be in the house for the premiere of their new independent film, “Jazz In The Diamond District”…showtime starts at 7:30p.

It’s always a good time at “Butta Sof Sol Thursdays” at Butterfly Social (located at 722 W. Grand next to Funky Buddha Lounge). The party kicks off at 9pm and the sounds will be in celebration of the legendary Stevie Wonder so there shouldn’t many “wallflowers” in the house!

“A Night Filled With The Unexpected” is promised by the folks of Hennessey for the exclusive consumer launch of their Hennessey Black brand. This private event will be held at Veil. You have to be on the list for this one!

FRIDAY
Hip-Hop’s “next big thing” and Toronto’s own “heartbreak” Drake will be making

his Chicago debut on the House of Blues (329 N. Dearborn) stage for an already sold out show! This former “Degrassi Junior High” television star has been having the net and the streets buzzing at a deafening roar for a while now and if you haven’t checked out his recent “So Far Gone” mixtape, consider yourself late! The new one is dropping already!

If “Drizzy” isn’t your thing, but you still want your hip-hop fix, head on over to Abbey Pub (3420 W. Grace St.) and check out E-Train rockin’ the mic with performances by Young General, A&R, J. Gatz, and Arthur Decko vs. The Atari Ferrari…doors open at 8pm

SATURDAY
Chicago Filmmaker Darryl Roberts will be screening his award-winning documentary “America The Beautiful” on Saturday at The Stave Mansion (2143 N. Stave Ave.). The screening begins at 8pm followed by a VIP reception honoring the star of the film, model Gerren Taylor who’s best known on the BET reality series, “Baldwin Hills”. Last but not least, soul sirens, India.Arie & Laura Ibizor will be at House of Blues on SUNDAY…don’t miss it!
