The annual Latino Film Festival closed its doors Wednesday night with Noche Buena, Noche Colombia. For those of you that could not make it, or simply waited last minute to purchase tickest and were lined up waiting to get in, this is what you missed out on. Las Tablas restaurant, partnered with the International Latino Cultural Center and greeted patrons with complimentary cocktails and Colombian cuisine as they waited for the night’s feature movie, Noche Buena. As guests feasted on traditional dishes such as empanadas , and sipped on sangria, Tierra Colombiana , a Colombian Folkloric Dance group warmed the crowd up as Engomo Alegre, led the night with the Afro-Caribbean beats of Colombia. The crowed mixed, mingled and talked about their favorite films throughout the night including who they thought would win this years audience choice award.
Being that this was my first film festival I did not know what to expect. It is comforting to know that
people are still willing dust off their suits, support the arts and celebrate Latino culture.
For those of you that missed out on this years Latino Film Festival, it is never too late to enjoy Latino culture. Log on to the International Latino Cultural Center’s Web site and get information on programs throughout the year that include music, dance, theater and visual art.
