Laura Lodewyck, NBC5 Street Team
As Halloween falls on a Friday this year, you may find yourself, as I am, inundated with Halloween party plans. Yay! Treat yourself by extending the celebrations aaaall week. Check out tonight’s screening of Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! at the Music Box Theatre, which opens with a burlesque performance by the fabulous Michelle L’Amour.
After you tire of the old-fashioned house-to-house party hopping on Halloween, filling up on booze AND candy (because you can) head to the racy party Naked: A Leather and Lace Halloween Celebration at Sound Bar. Or, make your way to a lower-key neighborhood celebration at Paddy Long’s “Beeker Must Die” Costume Party. Or head up to the swank Disguise and Deception Halloween Masquerade, featuring ex-Cirque du Soleill member Emie Vega’s performance on aerial silks (off the balcony!). The choices are bountiful, and pretty much just unfair…how to choose??
As Halloween is the day where the veil between the living and the dead becomes most thin, it seems appropriate to mourn the loss of a nostalgic treat.. that’s right, Miller Coors has suddenly announced that they are no longer going to be making the mad dog of beers, ZIMA. Oh, Zima! I totally forgot about Zima!! But now that I won’t be able to have it anymore… like zombies want brains, I suddenly MUST HAVE ZIMA.
