As I write this jets are flying so close I can practically see the pilot. If you’ve been anywhere near the city you’ve probably seen and at least heard the roar as they practice for this weekend’s Chicago Air & Water Show.
This year is the 50th Anniversary, and they’re really going to do it up. For the first time they’ll be exhibiting on Friday, and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be kicking off the festivities at 3pm today and the Golden Knights Parachute squad will drop in. It’ll be a celebrity packed evening: Bill Murray will be there as a special guest, and Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band are putting on a show at the North Avenue Boat House. After that the air show resumes.
Saturday and Sunday the water show begins at 9am, and the air show runs from 11am to 4pm. And it’s all free!
I love this city!
