Pretty soon they’re gonna need to build a second wall of china – this time in Tinley Park; and even that might not be enough to stop people from swarming the gates of the best Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to.
It’s called Hamada, and you don’t just eat the food, you literally experience it.
A lot of people compare it to the popular restaurant Benihana, but believe me, Hamada doesn’t need to ride anyone’s coattails. For about 25 – 40 dollars (depending on what entree you order) you get a seemingly infinite amount of courses delivered right to your plate, each one right off your table grill, almost before you can finish what you already have.
Take the Hibachi steak meal (My personal favorite): They start you off with a special soup that could pass as an entree itself, then it’s on to a salad (I recommend their French dressing). From there you get a serving of Hamada’s signature noodles (almost the best part of the meal), followed by an order of cooked vegetables, 2 shrimp cooked in lemon juice and butter, the delectable Hibachi Steak, and finally, ice cream and a wheel barrow to cart yourself out in once you’re through. (Alright, I made the wheel barrow part up.) But you’re going to want to experience everything else firsthand.
As if the food weren’t enough, all of the chefs come equipped with cooking utensils that are turned into tools of entertainment; Flipping, slicing and dicing their way into more than just the usual culinary experience. No, Hamada is an adventure. They even flip small cuts of food into your mouth to lighten the mood. They have other tricks and surprises in store too, but I won’t ruin them for you.
On top of all that, you take the authentic atmosphere, the Japanese drum players, the incredible sushi bar, the actual drink bar….O.K., I think you get my point. Don’t just take my word for it, though. Take yourself and everyone you know.
You’ll thank me later.
