Opening Ceremonies were yesterday at Solider Field for one of the largest track and feild events held by “Special Olympics”.
The three day event starts today @ Eskersall Stadium on Yates and 83rd from 9-4pm. This year’s honoary Head Coach is Darin Erstad of the 2005 World Series White Sox. There are over 2700 registered althletes from ages 8-84 and 100 Chicago Public Schools that participate every year. The Special Childrean’s Charities has been the official financial suppoters for 38 years. Many people don’t know the Creator of the Special Olympics is Justice Anne Burke. With the help of Mayor Daley and the Chicago Park District everyone is committed to making this a wonderful program.
This is a great event to support and the weather outlook for the next 3 days are predicting to be in the 70′s. So if you live in the area or have the time to come out… don’t hesitate!
