Freedom reigned in Wrigleyville as TechCocktail overtook the top floor of John Barleycorn on Thursday April 12th. It all started with the the free tickets to TechCocktail that are so hot that they “sold out” of the 500 spots within 24 hours of being announced. The night really got going once the free booze started flowing in glowing neon cups and the people started playing Wii baseball for 10 free Cubs tickets (thanks to sponsor SingleHop).
Instead of stumbling around drinking beer this time, I had the opportunity to demo Menuism with John along with the other startups ParkWhiz, Interactive Mediums, timeXchange, text2store, and Zaplee. Our efforts paid off as Menuism came away with the “fan favorite” vote for the night, which was run by Interactive Mediums.
Many attendees didn’t just go home with a good buzz – there were freebies galore.
- Transwestern gave out an Apple iTV.
- Digital Bootcamp gave out an iPod Nano (which John from Menuism won)
- Menuism gave out a $50 restaurant gift certificate
- HTD Law flew someone out to Las Vegas and gave out a Wii
If you’re in tech, you need to go to the next TechCocktail in July or head to the one in DC – it’s always a good time and a great place to meet people.
