As you might imagine, I’ve never had a problem trolling for babes, but finding a perfect match isn’t easy for everyone. The club and bar scene can get kind of old, and Internet dating is good for quantity, but the quality can be somewhat lacking — so I’m told.
Another option when looking for love is to join a singles social group. A few weeks ago I attended an event held by The Social Network at the James Hotel. The Social Network bills itself as an “exclusive club dedicated to giving single professionals a unique, comfortable environment in which to meet other like-minded people.”
Most of the group’s events are strictly for members, but this one was open to the public, and doubled as a recruiting drive for the organization. The first thing I noticed was the age range of the people at the event — literally, people from their 20s to possibly in their 60s, mingling together and partaking in the free booze and food.
The second (and most important) thing — for me anyway — was the female to male ratio. Fellas, I swear it was 4:1 in there. I couldn’t go to the bathroom without being inundated with “hellos” and “how ya doin’s.”

The question is, are you willing to pay the price? Joining The Social Network costs about $1,300 a year, with additional dues throughout the year. One of the members told me that the additional dues are waived if you arrange a group activity, like a sports league. For some reason my Massage Night idea was received skeptically by the females I suggested it to.
Sadly, I didn’t find love that night at the James Hotel, but I did make some great professional contacts. Mixing business with pleasure never felt so good.
